This page lists all the software the FreeRoam developers use and also websites that provide resource. The project is non-commercial granting us access to a wide range of resources that would otherwise be impossible. The FreeRoam team did not create every 3D model you see in the game, it would be impossible and fruitless, because someone else has already done it.
Metasequoia
Metaseq is a great basic modeller. We haven't bought any software, we use the trial version of the full version to create our models and then export in directX format using MetaseqLE (Light Edition).
FragMOTION
This software we have bought because it was fairly inexpensive ($50 USD). We use this to import weapons from directX format and export than as .b3d because the engine requires it. We also use this to animate characters.
Google Sketchup
A great piece of free software from Google. We haven't bought the pro version, we simply downloaded a plugin which allows models to be exported in directX format. Thanks Google!
CG Textures
An extremely useful resource, offering high quality textures with great information about each, such as whether they are seamless.
Google 3D Warehouse
Absolutely fantastic, an almost endless range of models from lame to high quality. 3D warehouse is one of the first places we look before we begin creating a new model.
We've got to make sure everything's legal right? Okay. The software is either free or bought, we're covered there. So I think we just need to explain our resources license's.
